The climate of the St Petersburg region is of a continental type with some
diversity caused by the proximity of the Baltic Sea. The winter is long and
cold (about -10°C) with considerable snow fall. Spring is tardy (end of
April - beginning of May) and short in general (+5°C/+15°C). Summer
is often warm and dry as in Central Europe (+20°C/+25°C), but it ends
much earlier approximately 15th of September. Autumn lasts about
two months. As spring, this season is very short and first snow falls at the
end of October - beginning of November (monthly temperature
+10°C/+14°C).
